FULL DENTURES

What Are Full Dentures?
Full dentures, sometimes called complete dentures are custom-made to replace all the teeth in your upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. They're designed to restore your ability to eat and speak comfortably, support your facial structure, and give you a natural-looking smile.
Each set is made up of a gum-coloured acrylic base that sits over your ridges, fitted with a set of prosthetic teeth chosen to match your face shape and complexion. At PMQ Dentures, we use premium Kulzer materials from Germany and craft every denture to suit the individual anatomy of your mouth, because a good fit isn't just about comfort, it's what makes the difference between dentures that look real and ones that don't.
FULL DENTURES
A Complete Replacement for All Missing Teeth

At PMQ Dentures, we know that facing the prospect of full dentures can feel like a big step, especially when you're trying to make sense of terms like complete, partial, immediate and implant-retained. It's a lot to take in, and every situation is different.
That's why Renata Fransen, our qualified dental prosthetist, takes the time to sit down with you, explain your options in plain language, and help you understand what will actually work best for your mouth, your lifestyle and your budget. Whether you're getting dentures for the first time, replacing a worn set, or exploring options for a family member, you'll have expert guidance from someone who has been designing and building dentures for over 20 years, right here in Port Macquarie.
THE IMPACT OF MISSING TEETH
Your teeth do more than help you eat, they support the way you speak, the shape of your face and how you feel about your smile.
Chewing and Digestion. When all your teeth are missing, eating solid food becomes a daily struggle. Food that isn't chewed properly puts extra strain on your digestive system, which can lead to ongoing discomfort, bloating and nutritional gaps, especially over time.
Speech and Clarity. Your teeth play a direct role in how you form words. Without them, certain sounds become harder to pronounce, and many people find themselves speaking less confidently or avoiding conversations altogether.
Facial Structure and Ageing. Without tooth roots to stimulate it, your jawbone gradually shrinks. This is what causes that sunken, aged appearance around the mouth, chin and cheeks, and it progresses the longer you go without teeth or a well-fitting denture.
Confidence and Wellbeing. The emotional side is just as real. Missing teeth affect the way people smile, socialise and feel about themselves. A well-made set of full dentures restores more than function, it gives you back the confidence to laugh, eat out and engage with life without hesitation.
Looking After Your Full Dentures
Your full dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth, and taking care of them properly will help maintain that fit, keep them looking good and protect your oral health. Plaque and bacteria build up on dentures just like they do on natural teeth,so even though your dentures are removable, they still need a daily cleaning routine.
A few simple habits will extend the life of your dentures and help you avoid unnecessary repairs or early replacements.
Frequently
Asked Questions
How much do full dentures cost in Port Macquarie?
The cost depends on the type of denture, the materials used and the complexity of your case. Renata provides a personalised quote after your initial consultation so there are no surprises. PMQ Dentures accepts NSW Government Oral Health Fee for Service vouchers, and we're happy to discuss payment options to make treatment manageable.
Will full dentures look natural?
That's a priority in the way we design them. Renata selects teeth that suit your facial structure, skin tone and age, and positions them to look natural rather than overly uniform. Her background in dental technology means she understands exactly how tooth shape, shade and placement affect the final result, so your dentures look like your own teeth, not like dentures.
How long does it take to get full dentures?
The full process typically takes four to six weeks from your first appointment to final fitting. This includes impressions, bite registration, a try-in stage where you can see and approve the look before the final denture is made, and a fitting appointment. Each step matters, it's what ensures a comfortable, accurate result.
Do I need a referral to get full dentures?
No. You can book directly with PMQ Dentures, no dentist referral is required. As a registered dental prosthetist, Renata can assess, design and fit your dentures independently. If extractions or other dental work are needed first, we coordinate closely with local dentists across Port Macquarie and the Mid North Coast.
What's the difference between full dentures and immediate dentures?
Full dentures are made after your teeth have been removed and your gums have fully healed, which usually takes a few months. Immediate dentures are pre-made and placed on the same day as your extractions so you're never without teeth, but they typically need adjusting or replacing once healing is complete. We offer both options and can advise which approach suits your situation.
What if I still have some teeth remaining?
If you have some natural teeth left, you may not need full dentures at all, partial dentures or a staged treatment plan might be a better fit. Renata will assess your mouth during your consultation and recommend the most appropriate option. You can read more on our Partial Dentures page.
